John Textor Makes Millions from Student Labor

John Textor, CEO of Digital Domain, has blacklisted himself in the animation community. Cartoon Brew has been following the story about how “Textor’s comments, which were made last November but leaked online last week, center around Textor telling investors that 30% of Digital Domain’s workforce would be comprised of ‘student labor that’s actually paying us for the privilege of working on our films.’” A follow up post tells about Textor’s “compensation” and Jeffrey Katzenberg indirectly addressed Textor’s scandal by saying it is good business strategy to honor employees.

Disney contemporary classic cover art revealed!

Over at Amazon.com, some new additions to Disney’s extensive Blu-ray catalog line up for the year have just been made available for pre-order, revealing the cover artwork for the first time. Perhaps predictably recycling previous DVD sleeve incarnations, Newsies: 20th Anniversary Edition arrives on June 19 to tie in with its Broadway musical stage bow, while Treasure Planet: 10th Anniversary Edition and Home On The Range are confirmed for July 3

Collider shares the first teaser trailer for the upcoming animated film Foosball . Directed by Academy Award-winner Juan Jose Campanella ( The Secrets in their Eyes ), the film “follows an underdog who, with the help of foosball figures that come to life, must take on a star soccer pro to save their village.” No release date has been set for the film.
